Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader. F8M First-Ever Parent Workshop: How to Teach Your Child to Read
Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader.
In celebration of National Family Literacy Month, F8M hosted a family literacy workshop! On November 8th at Crosstown Theater, over 150 families joined us for our first-ever parent workshop, How to Teach Your Child to Read. Families learned the importance of reading, talking tips, and Read-n-Ready phonics. We want to thank our partners, volunteers, F8M team, and parents/community for sharing your evening with us. Our early educator presenters included:
Dr. Deborah Reed, Director of Tennessee Reading Research Center
Sonja Randall, LENA Coordinator at the University of Memphis
Grandma Joyce, Read-n-Ready Advocate
A special thank you to our sponsors: Porter-Leath, Lakeshore, Governor's Early Literacy Foundation, Literacy Mid-South, Urban Child Institute, and M-SCS!
